APPLICATION PROCESS – EMERGENCY RADIOLOGY FELLOWSHIPS
IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR 2025-2026 APPLICATION CYCLE:
Emergency Radiology Fellowships will no longer be participating in the NRMP match and will instead be abiding by the AAR SCARD Embargo the 2025-2026 application year, recruiting for the 2027-2028 academic year. For more information about the SCARD Embargo, please find the policy here. Exceptions to the embargo include applicants whose spouse/domestic partner is also applying for a medical fellowship in the same year, Internal candidates, Military candidates, and International candidates from programs that are not ACGME or RCPS.
Programs are currently recruiting for AY2027-2028, and many programs have open spots for AY2026-2027. Please visit the Programs website for a list of Emergency Radiology fellowship programs.
Key dates for the current application cycle are below:
| Non Match Programs | Timeline | Important Dates |
| Applications | Applications may be accepted beginning | November 1, 2025 |
| Interview Embargo Dates | Interviews may begin | January 12, 2026 |
| Interview Embargo Dates | Interviews completed | March 31, 2026 |
| Acceptance Embargo Date | No fellowship may offer acceptances before this date | Noon eastern standard time, January 26, 2026 |
| Grace Period | Applicants have until noon eastern standard time Jan 28th to accept or decline any offer made before Jan 28th. For any offer made after Jan 28th the candidate has a 1 day grace period(noon eastern standard time) to accept or decline the offer. |
All interviews should be virtual. Onsite second visits are allowed. However, all programs should reassure candidates that the second visit is optional and is not being used by the programs as a de-facto second interview but purely to allow the applicant to get a better feel and understanding of their program.
Programs should not make an offer to or accept any applicant that has already accepted an offer from another program.
SCARD encourages applicants to adhere to the following professionalism guidelines: Offers accepted during grace periods are binding—no other offers should be entertained or accepted. Once you accept an offer, you should immediately withdraw your candidacy from all other positions. Adhering to these guidelines will help ensure the system is fair to your fellow applicants and programs.
